Nurses

The Practice Nurse provides a variety of medical and nursing services and may be consulted by appointment. It is not necessary to be referred by a doctor and the nurses are happy to answer queries or give advice over the telephone. Services include: cervical smears, vaccinations, diet, contraception, weight, HRT, exercise, breast awareness, ECG, teenage health and smoking cessation. Practice nurse appointments can be made via the receptionist.

Our Practice Manager, Mrs Fiona Jamieson is involved in the day to day non-clinical aspects of running the practice and manages all the administrative staff. Please always be courteous and treat them as you yourself would wish to be treated. At certain times of the day the Healthcare centre and phone lines are extremely busy, but the staff will endeavour to help you as quickly as possible.

Lesley advises the clinical staff on best prescribing practice and is running a Hypertension and Cardiac Clinic in the practice.

Community Nurses

The District Nursing team provide high quality nursing care in the community on weekdays between 9.00 am – 5.00 pm. After 5.00 pm Monday to Friday and at weekends a district nurse is on call for emergencies and can be contacted by calling 01569 792000 or contacting NHS 24 on 08454 242424. Their services are primarily within the domestic setting, for those too ill to attend the Practice Nurse, and tailored to the patient’s needs. Specialist areas include skin and wound care, over 75’s assessments, acute and chronic disease management and nursing the terminally ill. They may be contacted by telephoning 01561 376450. This clinic is held Mondays to Fridays between 8.30am and 10.00am. Appointments can be made at reception. Our community nurses provide a variety of medical and nursing services including the removal of stitches, dressings, ear syringing, blood sampling, general health advice etc.
